Takin' a Break

Hi Folks,

Life’s been pretty chaotic the last few weeks so I’m taking the week off to recuperate ahead of the silly season and a certain milestone birthday that approaches at an alarming rate (I’m turning 30 next Tuesday… gah!).

Back next week with some new recipes and an update from the garden. In the meantime here’s a link to one of my favourite food blogs, veggienumnum, with some great ideas for a very vego Christmas.

Happy, happy birthday, Erin. I know just what you mean about life being chaotic at the moment. I keep meaning to comment that I think you would LOVE a pressure cooker. Often when I read your posts and recipes, I think … this lady needs a pressure cooker! They save a heap of time and energy (ie, power) cooking pulses and beans, and our recipe repertoire has expanded since we got one. And potatoes cook in 8 minutes!
Have a lovely Christmas and all the best for 2012. I look forward to reading more of your posts when you’re back on deck. And now I’m going back to work, packing and posting books.

Awww thank you Judy! I’ve been thinking about a pressure cooker but I have so many appliances in the kitchen I was a bit worried that it would just end up taking up more space. Do you use yours often? What sort do you have?

Erin, we have a Fagor 6 litre … and a Fagor 10 litre which we use on our gas stove. And we do use them both! Especially the 6L now that there are just the 2 of us at home, but we do often have both going at the same time. If you decide to get one, let me know and I’ll send you a copy of Suzanne Gibbs’ superb Pressure Cooking book … or we could meet somewhere for a coffee and I’ll hand it over in person.

  • Happy birthday! Enjoy your day and have a lovely break, look forward to your return!
